November Newsletter '19
Idk what's happening in New York, but I just saw snow for the first time this year in Michigan and couldn't be more disgusted... on that note, boy oh boy do we have news for you!
We'll start off by filling you in on some awesomeness that's already gone down.
October Rooftop Series
For our October installment we presented a staged sing-through of Her Sound, a new song cycle by Ethan Carlson at Open Jar Studios. Between our incredibly talented cast of singers, and the fantastic audience that assembled in support, the night was a success all around.
(Sorry this gif is basic, but it's really satisfying to watch.) November Rooftop For this month we have a unique addition to the Rooftop Series! On November 24th, Ellie Schwartz will be performing a set consisting of all original music, with Rachel Norman opening the show! The event will be from 7:30-8:30pm at Open Jar Studios Room 12J. Admission will be one canned donation for the City Harvest's Food Drive (and an appetite for new work!) Join us next Sunday if you can!
Not a gif, I know, but look at how pretty it is! December Benefit Concert In December, Thousand Faced will be returning to their alma mater to perform a Winter Concert for their friends and family in the Des Moines area! Members Nathan, Miranda, and Matt will all be performing (as well as a few guest performers) and would love any and everyone in the area to join us! We will be performing at xBk Live on December 27th at 8:00pm. Get your tickets ahead of time here! Non-profit Designation At the beginning of November, TFTC learned that our 501(c)3 status had been approved by the IRS, making us an official (fully tax deductible) nonprofit! It has been a long, detailed, and heavily publicized road, but represents a huge step for our company. In securing this designation we've opened up so many new opportunities for us going forward, and remember that any donations you've made (or are yet to make) can now be written off on your taxes (wink wink).
Matt Shultz Reviews Matt has actually been seeing a lot of theatre recently, from Come From Away to Tootsie, but this month we hear his take on Heroes of the Fourth Turning currently running at Playwrights Horizons. Schultz: I was with it until the last 5 minutes... when there may or may not have been demons... Come back next month for more insights on the best, worst, or other theatre in the city!
Wanna know what else we've been up to? No? Too bad! Behind the Curtain Nathan Smith has been getting a break from constantly touring by settling in Boston for the last couple weeks with The Office Parody Musical. Miranda, Lera, and I will also be visiting there over Thanksgiving! Lera Zamaraeva just sang She's Got a Mind of Her Own from Unexpected Joy at the Samuel French offices for Jim Kierstead and Bill Russell. Watch the video on her insta here! Matt Beary is currently touring around the Midwest. He (I?) just stopped in Rockford, Illinois and had his aunt and uncle come see the show! Now he has a couple days off in Fort Wayne, IN before heading back to New York. Miranda Luze over the past month has widely expanded her vocal studio and is teaching weekly lessons. She is still accepting new students so you can visit her website and reach out to her for details! She also recently burned the crap out of her hand, reach out to her for details! Matt Schultz has had a little more time on his hands after a few hectic weeks at work, and attended the opening of The Inheritance this weekend! The Goings On This month Thousand Faced wants to give a special shoutout to Actor Therapy's production of Hair at 54 Below. The show features our own Miranda Luze and Lera Zamaraeva in addition to numerous members of the larger TFTC community. The show is TONIGHT at 11:30pm, if you haven't yet get your tickets here!
That's it for me, thanks for reading and see you at one of our upcoming events! TTFN, TFTC
